Character Death and Injuries Empty Character Death and Injuries

Hard and fast: You cannot kill someone else's character without their permission.

Under no circumstances can you take it upon yourself to have your character kill someone else's, no matter what mood you're in OOC. Sure, you can attempt to kill another character in a fight or duel, for the sake of having fun and causing IC drama, but it is entirely up to the victim character's RPer whether their character dies or not, even in a deathmatch duel.

How do you go about obtaining permission to kill another character? By asking OOC at the top or bottom of your post if you can kill the other person's character. They'll reply in their next post, stating whether or not it's alright. If they say no, then you must accept their wishes to keep their character alive.

In a fight, whether it is just a friendly practice match, a spar to let of steam/tension/have fun, a "sanctioned' duel, a brawl, or any other kind of physical confrontation, no one will escape unscathed. While not all (or even most) injuries will be life-threatening or severe, your characters will be hurt, even if they are just a little banged up and bruised.

    As an example:

Leda is a short, thin individual of the roguish sort. Kyrios is taller, stronger and is wielding a broken bottle. The two of them are in the middle of a barroom brawl and Leda has taken a fist to the face. Even though she's definitely not mortally wounded, depending on exactly where the hit landed, she might have a blackened eye, a busted nose, or her lip may have been split.

Conversely, assume Leda and Kyrios are drunk and brawling. Kyrios has dropped his bottle, Leda has picked up a broom and using it as a weapon. If she swings the broomstick and hits Kyrios in the stomach with it, chances are, she did not bust his ribs. However, he'll probably be caught off-guard and is now somewhat sore, maybe a little bruised, or she could have knocked his wind out.

Even though you might think it adds a little dramatic flair to take the most damage possible for the attack received, it really isn't. Even in the middle of a no-holds-barred beat-down, it reads better for characters to sustain injuries that are proportionate to the attack that was delivered.
